Having just treated my 77-year-old mother-in-law for a kidney infection with antibiotics as she was very ill again 2 days after finishing her treatment. She rang the surgery in the morning asking for doctor to come out, she was offered an appointment at 4:10 pm, however she was unable to stand, was very confused and had terrible pain in her head and being violently sick. At 2:30 pm my wife called round as she was worried about her mum, she rang the surgery asking for a home visit as she was slumped in a chair, unable to move and very incoherent. The receptionist said no-one could come out as home visits were only available for morning visits and that she should take some paracetamol for the headache. We called 111, they advised to get the GP out, we explained they wouldn't come, they said they would call the surgery and and put it as urgent. To no avail, still they refused to come out, and it was a 2-hour waiting time for an ambulance...... so I lifted my semi-conscious mother in law into my car, drove to A&E at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. 2 weeks later she has just returned home very tired and frail after being treated for VIRAL MENINGITIS. Luckily, we had the capacity to get my mother in law to hospital, otherwise if she had been left for another few hours, I dread to think what would have happened. (Maybe the receptionist could answer this as they seem to be medical qualified in all matters....... ) The professional care and compassion provided by Ashgate Medical Practice has virtually evaporated since they moved from Avondale Road. Business profits over patient care seems to be the priority. If you have any choice in the matter, then register yourself with another smaller surgery that hasn't lost touch with "Putting the Patient First". I would welcome a meeting with senior partners at the practice, but I guess I would only be telling them something they already know. You are after all running a business that is letting your customers down and in some cases to a point of life or death situation. I would rate you as NO STARS if this was at all possible. Thanks for nothing
First time here tonight from 111 service, lovely doctor, friendly, courteous, professional, on time, read some reviews on here about running late, get a grip, GP's run late for all sorts of reasons, some more urgent than ours/your case so be patient, they do a fantastic job#beapatientpatient
We moved to this practice about 4 years ago, as they were recommended by two sets of our friends, we have not been disappointed. When I ask for an appointment, I accepte what doctor is available so I have seen a good number of them over the years. Without exception, all have been better than one could hope for and all matter are dealt with in a professional and friendly manor, I can not fault them. The reception and other services are equally as goodThe consI attend Holmehall most of the time, as it is the nearest to my home. But if I have to attend Ashgate Road, then parking is only possible if you have someone with you that can stay with the car, as you would have to double park or just drop you off. This has less parking than there previous location (Avondale Road) It a relatively large area of parking, therefore it is hard to believe that so little parking is allocated for patients as most of the spaces reserved for others working at that location, who could double park to free up some space. Where possible use the bus as free parking is a long walk away, if you can find it!
Doctor was running really late had to wait an hour to see him and seeing others go in before you when you have special needs and aniexty is nerve wrecking. Nobody told me I she was running late until I went up to the desk. I had other plans but it was to late to them which my routine was all over the place
Had the worse experience here today ever im absolutely apauled by the receptionist at the Holme Hall practise I was sat with my children awaiting there apiontment it was running 20min late so far my daughter who is 1 was playing near a weighing machine the receptionist came over and told me to keep my child under control and not to let her play on or near the machine as it was a very expensive piece of equipment!! I told her she was just a child! I picked her up and sat her on my knee so she started crying then the guy sat next me started shouting at me as she was crying the receptionist just sat there smirking while he was swearing at my daughter to shut up ! I saw the doctor and as I left she put on an over happy voice and told me to have a nice day !!!!!!! Defiantly putting in a complaint
I personally have found all the staff are very polite and helpful especially the young lady who works at the reception at the HolmeHall site nothing is to much troublefor her.only problem is getting am appointment some times.
