I don't normally write reviews for anybody, but having been in sales all my life, I feel it necessary to do this for Ingmans and explain why.Having been a lifelong resident of Chesterfield, it is a shame to see high street shops closing. I still want to see a Chesterfield town centre that thrives, not only for me but future generations.Ingmans have taken a big risk moving to their new high street larger premises, and need our full support, and believe me, they well deserve it.Andrew is a very skilled cobbler, and I've just viewed his website and seen the video there. It is a pleasure to watch and you can spend a fascinating 5 minutes viewing it.Actually I restore old motorcycles but always enjoy watching others talents. Doing a job properly is a work of art and Andy no doubt takes pride in what he does.Quality takes first place in my review, and it is worth remembering you only get what you pay for. The first pair of shoes I purchased was 20 years ago, and Andy has just refurbished them for me (see pic). I have purchased a new pair as well to support Andy's endeavour with no sales pressure or any of that rubbish.Customer satisfaction in this shop is first class, and if you want to be treated with courtesy and respect, you only need to step through the door. Its worth doing that to browse the quality and range of items on sale, including clothing. Spoilt for choice!!Please visit this shop, you won't be disappointed!Chris

I've been going to Andy and his team for many years and in my opinion the best shop/retailer in our area. If your after top quality clothes and service at a reasonable price you really can't go wrong.I've used all aspects of what the business provides, from custom leather work to shoe repair and you won't find better outside London. George who produces all the COBB leather products is a true craftsman and if your after something really special that will last a life time he is your man. Can't recommend this place enough. 10 Stars!!!

I am Northampton born so shoes mean a lot to me. We still, arguably, have the best shoe makers in the country if not the world. I almost always, with few exceptions, buy my shoes from local brands where they still make great shoes.I was told to try Ingmans by a good friend who has worked in the shoe and leather industry for the past thirty years. My Churchs have been well-worn for about sixteen years since I brought them from the Factory Shop. In all honesty I was sceptical as to whether it would be worth trying to re-sole them and was considering a new pair. I was advised to get a full re-sole and heel because the general condition of the leather and quality of the shoes merited it.I am so pleased that I decided to spend the money on a repair. It was simple to send them; I received a phone call within a day to explain what would need to be done in order to turn them back to a good working condition. This was carried out and to have them returned within two weeks is far quicker than dealing with the makers direct. The previous repairs/ half-sole repairs had kept them functional but the difference in what I received back is light years away from this. The shoes were stripped back and hand-welted in order to utilise the original stitching and return them to a factory condition. Additional attention to detail such as soft cork filling and the method of fitting a good quality pre-shaped sole made a massive difference to the fit and feel of the shoe. What a difference. It is not an ordinary service but then again Churchs are not ordinary shoes. To spend good money on repairing good shoes by a skilled craftman is a no-brainer.I cannot recommend them highly enough. It is a joy to speak and deal with an enthusiastic family-run business that takes pride in its craft and looks to uphold the traditional methods that be-fit shoes of this quality. Thanks again for taking the time to make them feel right for another sixteen years I would be happy to refer you to anyone.
